Events at ROE

These are some of the exciting events the PTO plans to host this year at River Oaks Elementary!

Details, registration, and volunteer opportunities will be published in the newsletter and on the website as events approach.

September

Join teachers, staff and fellow parents at Kirby Ice House for a casual night out of kid-free conversation and refreshments.

October

The entire family is invited to kick off another exciting year of PTO events at Flicks & Flames: Movie Night & Camp Out, where our ROE blacktop will be transformed into a giant outdoor movie theater – popcorn included! Bring your own blankets and settle in to enjoy the show.

This unique ROE event allows students and their families to gather for a night of movie and camping fun, with s’mores over a campfire and a bedtime story from the principal. Families may choose to join for the evening only or spend the night on the playground, with coffee and breakfast available in the morning for all.

NOVEMBER - DECEMBER

Get a jump on your holiday shopping during our offsite book fair! Shop local at Brazos Bookstore and a portion of the proceeds will benefit our PTO.

Each year for our annual “Great Gatherings” online auction, ROE families and faculty volunteer to host a variety of events and activities for adults and children. During the auction, the school community may buy tickets for those gatherings via our auction website, with proceeds benefiting the PTO. The auction ends with an action-filled, online live auction. Sign in to bid on all your favorite school privileges!

JANUARY - FEBRUARY

This is a community-wide service project to "Stuff the Bus" for the Ronald McDonald House to provide essentials that every family needs during an unexpected hospital stay. It culminates on Valentine's Day and is a way to make a meaningful impact and show our community's strength.

Join us on campus for one of our favorite times of the year –

the ROE Book Fair and International Family Night!

The ROE Book Fair will be open on campus for three very exciting days!

Parents and special guests are welcome to join students to shop as they visit the Book Fair with their teachers.

International Family Night takes place on the final evening of the ROE Book Fair. Families fill the hallways of ROE in a celebration of the diversity reflected in our school community. Many ROE families volunteer year after year to represent a country or culture that is special to them, serving cultural cuisine, dressing in traditional clothing, and displaying traditional items for the benefit of all to enjoy.

MARCH

The ROE Fun Run is a long-standing tradition for students and their families. Meet us on the ROE playground for a relaxed and joyful day of running events and field games for all grade levels, recent alumni, and even adults–just in time to shake those wiggles out and welcome spring!

APRIL

ROE parents, teachers, and staff are invited to enjoy a fun evening of dinner and community, capped off with a lively and unforgettable live auction.

MAY

The entire ROE community is invited to gather on the playground for our annual Family Picnic. We’ll celebrate the end of the school year with an afternoon full of music, games, food and fun. New families and ROE alumni are encouraged to attend!
