Did you know our school has a hidden gem right in our backyard?
The River Oaks Elementary Nature Center is an incredible outdoor space where students can connect with nature, learn about the environment, and even get their hands dirty in the garden!
Nature Center Classes with Girl on the Grow
We are excited to welcome Janice Brown, with Girl on the Grow, to ROE as our new
Nature Center Teacher!
With a passion for hands-on learning, environmental education, and gardening, she will bring fresh opportunities for students to connect with the natural world. Students will enjoy hands-on lessons once a month—planting seeds, harvesting vegetables, exploring ecosystems, and connecting science, art, and math to the outdoors.
We need volunteers!
We are looking for VIPS approved Parents, Grandparents and friends to volunteer with the students during their monthly nature center rotation. Volunteers will provide assistance to Ms. Brown and the classroom teachers during lessons by setting up materials and tools, clean up, or helping with class coordination and logistics. No gardening or nature center experience required. If interested, please reach out to RoeNatureCenter@Gmail.com
